Mental health disabilities, like Bipolar Disorder, can make operating a Home Based Business even more challenging. Things like stigmas, support systems and daily methods of operation can be adversely effected.

It is important that the persons with metal health disabilities follow general guidelines to maintain a somewhat health lifestyle. Many of these guidelines apply equally as well in the operation of a Home Based Business.

The following are some areas to consider:

Exercise: Regular exercise can help to elevate your mood. Walking is a good start and is easy to implement. Another thing it can help you do is to sleep better at night. Start slowly and then gradually do more every day start with a half mile of walking and gradually increase to a mile or two per day..
Eat a healthy diet: There are no magic diets or food plans out there. Keep your focus on the basics such as lots of fruits, vegetables, and grains.Avoid sugar and caffeine as much as possible.
A good nights sleep: I take medication for sleeping. I have to be sure to take it at the same time every day to keep a regular sleep pattern. You don’t want to be overtired because if you are then this can trigger mania in many people. Go to sleep and get up at the same time every day. Relax for a while before you attempt to go to sleep.
Stress: You can ask your spouse, family, friends, coworkers and anyone else you need to for help. Take frequent breaks. Avoid multi-tasking. Start and finish one activity at a time. I find for myself that completing a task gives me a sense of accomplishment and helps motivate me to start another.
One of the areas that I found particularly important is in the area of support. It is good to have a support system of mentors, coaches and mental health trained individuals from whom to seek advise and direction. This makes for a less stressful lifestyle and business environment.
